I need to read the FAQ closely, the framework section looks like a big help on the timing of player actions. Reading the core set’s guide didn’t make it very clear where attachments could be thrown, and reading the text on some (such as Drunk, -4 STR to character) made it obvious you wouldn’t play it on your own. If your hand still sucks, then you might just be screwed, but it’s unlikely to be much worse and at least you tried.

If you don’t have that, take your free mulligan to shuffle and redraw 7 cards. Basically you want your opening 7 cards to contain at least 3 cards you can drop during Setup, and of those cards you want at least one that provides an income bonus or a cost reduction ability. Mulligan rules in this game are very friendly. Attachments that provide negative benefits are probably more commonly played to screw opposing characters than attachments that provide buffs that you’d typically play on your own characters.ĭecks must be at least 60 cards (not counting the House card or any Agenda cards), and plot decks must be 7 cards exactly. Note that generally “No Attachments” is actually a positive benefit for cards with that particular keyword. There are no limits on stacking attachments unless a card says otherwise. In general the possible targets are characters, locations, other attachments, and even your House card (or opponent’s House card). These generally mean exactly what they say (“Weapon” refers to a trait that many attachments have).Īttachment cards define what they can be attached to. An attachment might say, “Attach only to a Stark character”, or a character might say “No Attachments” or “No Attachments except Weapon”. The only limitation to playing attachments are those defined by either text on the attachment or by the target of the attachment. Davos was killed early on, along with Renly and Maester Cressen.ĭavos… died? He’s should be one of hardest SOBs to kill in the game. So I ended up with Melisandre wielding Lightbringer alone against Tywin, Tyrion, Cersei, Raff the Sweetling, Jacelyn Bywater, and a few generics in the final round. I played Baratheon against his Lannisters and as luck would have it never saw one location card come into my play hand compared to five Lannister locations pouring money into his gold pool each turn. It has a pretty good flow to it, though it can get somewhat complicated fairly quickly with all the card text modifiers. Both of us walked away afterwards with a handful of questions that aren’t answered in the core set’s game guide (such as deck size rules, or ability to play negative attachment’s against an opponent’s characters, or # of attachments allowed per character, etc.), but we had quite a bit of fun learning the game. Was off work today, so had a buddy come over and we tried our first game. This isn’t a problem if you’re familiar with the cards (if not, build decks on the cardgamedb site linked above and they have an option to “Export as OCTGN Deck”) Part of the agreement FFG has with the guys making AGoT available on OCTGN is that they blank out the card text on the images for cards released within the past six months. It contains all card sets up through Secrets of Oldtown.

I’m sharing all the files needed to install and play in this one zip for easy access. If you want to do playtesting with yourself or with others online, there’s OCTGN, a free program that is designed to provide a sort of virtual tabletop for card games. The interface is smooth, they’re up to date on the cards with high quality images, and you can save decks online at your leisure.

Most mods can be found with some ingenuity on the discord channels below. Here’s the link to what’s probably the best online deckbuilding for AGoT.

I recommend subscribing to the Tabletop Simulator reddit page at See reference links about backing up mods, etc. They are highly subject to change and DMCA takedown. There are duplicates in the list - I tried to use exact naming of mods because it can be tricky to get the exact one referenced amongst all those listed in Steam Workshop and it is helpful to know there are multiple flavors of mods with different features. What I ended up with is a somewhat curated list of boardgame mods on Workshop with known good working content as of 4/2020.
There are literally thousands of mods, some sanctioned, some unsanctioned, some complete, some with working or not working external references that could change or break at any time.
